One Man's Hobby helps hundreds.
Darren Kamara is a veteran who now works for British Airways and has been a Mission Motorsport Beneficiary since 2013.
Like so many others he is currently sat at home with time on his hands wondering about ways he can help.
Unlike many others though he has a bit of a hobby in 3D printing and owns four machines, he did some research into the surgical safety screens that are in short supply now.
They are made up of a frame and replaceable screens which he had the raw materials to produce at home so quickly sourced the correct dimensions. His idea was to support local doctor’s surgeries, pharmacists and the local hospital where he received help with his own injuries.
His next step was to share this on Facebook and within no time has established a group of 35 people with 3D printers all producing the same products. The raw materials were going to become an issue as he didn't have an endless supply of it, Taylor Wimpey then came across his story and have agreed to supply the material to him and those in his group.
So, where can Mission Motorsport help?
Distribution is his last remaining obstacle and as a charity we have a network of amazing Beneficiaries and Volunteers who could be relied upon to assist.
You don't have to register, apply or even reply at this stage, this is purely to get the message out. Shortly we will put out messages entitled "MM Kamara Logistics" which will detail collection and delivery points, if you are in a position to help then simply reply, being mindful that you are in good health and follow the current guidelines of distancing and washing hands.
In the meantime,
Please check out Darren’s Facebook pages for more updates.
