Student Matty Lake Enjoys a new career at Motorlux Mazda
Student and former soldier finds full-time employment at Motorlux Mazda as he embarks on a new career away from the military
With a successful Race of Remembrance under our belts, it was time for the MM team to return to normal duties. Delivering two Mazda fleet cars, a CX-5 and CX-30, generously loaned to the charity by Mazda Motors UK, to Motorlux Mazda in Newbury for their annual service, Mission Motorsport Workshop Manager and Technical Trainer/Assessor Aston Dimmock was met with a joyous surprise when he was greeted by a MM Training Wing Student.
Matty Lake, a former soldier in the 1st Battalion, The Parachute Regiment and student on the IMI Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 3 course, is now employed full-time by Richard Shepard, a dear friend and supporter of the charity at Motorlux Mazda in Newbury.
Completing a thorough inspection and service of both vehicles, Aston was able to catch up with Matty as he settles into his new career. Aston said, “I’m incredibly proud of Matty. Having trained, mentored, coached and assessed him throughout his studies, it’s amazing to see him so happy and successful in his new role.”
Aston continued, “His line manager and coworkers at Motorlux all speak very highly of Matty and of told me how well he is fitting in.” Supporting Matty in his new career, Motorlux is planning on providing him with the necessary training to become an MOT Technician.
