Armed Forces Compensation Scheme review - initial findings

The Armed Forces Compensation Scheme has been a huge feature of the lives of many of the men and women that we serve - and so we were determined to help voice their experiences when asked for comment towards the 5 year review last year.

The initial findings have just been published, and to see in print comment on the ‘adversarial nature’ ‘lack of contact’ ‘length of time’ and appalling communications by the AFCS process is really heartening. It should not be the case that we are reflecting back to the MoD that some of its people can be left dehumanised and desperate, alienated from their service, their identity, and their friends - by the very process that should be there to help those most in need of support.

Progress - certainly, and to be encouraged. The critical piece now is: when and how will changes be made?
