We’re delighted to share some special words from the Soldiering On Awards Patron, The Earl Howe.

“Over the course of this incredibly challenging year, we have seen many acts of selflessness and compassion across the community, as we have all dealt with the current pandemic. Some of these acts of altruism will not have been visible to the wider community, so it is right that when we do recognise these valiant and humble actions that we acknowledge them.

Tonight, we announce the Patron’s Special Recognition Award: This individual is renowned for his sharp insight and his unwavering commitment to the cause of the community, and that was all before the pandemic.

His demeanour and presence guarantee that people will listen to him. And, during the pandemic, he swapped driving his racing cars for driving ambulances.

We’re delighted to announce that, for the Soldiering on Awards 10th anniversary, The Patron’s Special Recognition Award goes to… James Cameron”

“Winning this award is a great honour”, said James. “veterans were at the forefront of the country’s response to the pandemic, and to be singled out amongst the thousands of volunteers is truly humbling.”

The Soldiering On Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of those who have served their country, and the diverse people and groups who work together in support of the Armed Forces Community. The 2020 Awards marks the 10th anniversary and the first full awards cycle since becoming part of X-Forces Enterprise (XFE). During those 10 years, over 120 winners, teams, charities, businesses and animal partners, across a range of categories along with countless more finalists, have been recognised for their outstanding contributions.

“I am extremely lucky to be surrounded by an incredibly supportive, hardworking and passionate team of staff, trustees, volunteers and patrons without whom our initiatives such as Mission Automotive would not be possible. I would like to thank them for their support and extend my thanks to The Earl Howe, and to the Soldiering On awards team for picking me” concluded James.
