For those enthusiasts that love all things cars, you have no doubt heard of Bad Obsession Motorsports a leading race and rally car preparation business combining over 50 years of experience. What some of you might not know is that the guys behind it, Nik Blackhurst and Richard Brunning, are good friends of the charity.

In their latest online series ‘Bargain Racement’, the team decided to find out whether it was possible to achieve a cheaper (and better) race experience than the ever increasing simulated online racing now available. In short the answer is yes. The duo harnessed all their knowledge, technical capabilities and passion into building a Citroen C1 race car.

The 2005 Citroen C1 had only 85,000 miles on the clock, six months valid MOT and cost the pair £850. Transforming it to comply with the new BRSCC (British Race & Sports Car Club) CityCar Club series and governing body Motorsport UK safety standards, the whole build cost £5995.00. The car proved to be a big success with the team taking the top spot at Silverstone, and a fantastic recovery drive from the back of the grid to second at Croft, supported by a MM pitcrew.

Bad Obsession Motorsport’s Richard Dunning said, “ It feels great to donate this car to Mission Motorsport. We know it will be well used and looked after. I will miss racing the car but we had our fun and it seems only fitting to donate it to The Forces Motorsport Charity.”

The Bad Obsession Motorsport team who attended the #YourRoR Remembrance service at Thruxton, presented James Cameron, CEO of Mission Motorsport with the car. Upon receiving it James said, “ We are immensely grateful to accept this donation. The work these guys do is fantastic and we are extremely lucky. The car will help us to engage our beneficiaries, get them involved and ultimately help them with their recovery - and this won’t be the last involvement of the BoM guys.

The handover of the C1 was captured and featured on the final instalment of the series.

The Bad Obsession Motorsport team not only donated the car, they also secured equipment for the car to help maintain and race it going forward. This included:

  • Nankong Tyres - spare set

  • Redline Oil - Servicing fluids

  • Link Engine Management - Dash system

  • Kielder Tools - Flight case & full set of 18v cordless tools

  • SIP - Aluminium jack & pair of axles stands

  • BRSCC - CityCar Cup Series season of entry fees

  • Competition Supplies - Line of Credit for the Workshop
