New Environmental and Social Sustainability Toolkit Launched to Support Armed Forces Service Charities
Mission Motorsport, The Forces Motorsport Charity, in collaboration with the Invictus Games Foundation and funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (AFCFT), has today proudly announced the release of the Environmental and Social Sustainability Toolkit for Armed Forces Service Charities. This groundbreaking resource is designed to guide charities in adopting sustainable practices and fostering positive environmental and social change.
The toolkit provides practical guidance and case studies across four key pillars: Events, Special Projects, People Engagement, and Buildings, Operations & Administration. It offers a wealth of knowledge, including strategies for implementing sustainable initiatives, reducing carbon footprints, and engaging stakeholders in meaningful sustainability efforts.
Lieutenant General (Retd) Richard Nugee CB CVO CBE, author of the Ministry of Defence’s Climate Change and Sustainability Strategic Approach, lends his expertise in the foreword, emphasizing the growing necessity for sustainability in all sectors, including charities. “This toolkit simplifies the complex world of sustainability, making it accessible and actionable for charities, particularly those with limited resources,” he states.
Key features of the toolkit include detailed best practices and guidance, offering actionable steps for charities to implement sustainability measures effectively. It also presents case studies, drawing from real-world examples such as the Invictus Games and Mission Motorsport, to demonstrate successful sustainability initiatives in action. The toolkit provides methodologies for measuring success, equipping charities with tools to track sustainability progress and impact. Additionally, it explores the importance of collaboration, offering insights into leveraging partnerships and external resources to maximize sustainable outcomes.
James Cameron, CEO of Mission Motorsport said, “Sustainability is no longer a choice—it’s a responsibility. With this toolkit, we are empowering Armed Forces charities to take practical steps toward a greener and more socially responsible future. By embracing sustainability, we can drive meaningful change and ensure long-term impact for our beneficiaries and communities.”
Charities and organisations are encouraged to utilise this resource to enhance their sustainability efforts and contribute to a more responsible and resilient future.
