Geordie secures second seat for Formula E!

Mission Motorsport beneficiary Gareth ‘Geordie Patterson’ raised more than a few impressed eyebrows with his debut online official FIA Formula E race last weekend in what was a genuinely nail biting event for him.

Missing qualifying at Monaco due to audio technical issues, Gareth started from the back of the grid that included some serious talent. Undeterred, Geordie managed to climb 4 places on the first lap, avoiding the mandatory ‘last place eviction’ rule in this ‘Race Royale’ where the racer at the back of the grid was eliminated every lap.

Streams will be live between 1530 BST and 1715 BST on event day

Skilfully weaving his way through an incident unscathed, Geordie climbed 4 places however he picked up a time penalty for jumping the start - having never had a start, Geordie couldn’t see the starting lights due to the cars HALO. Nevertheless, a strong first few laps ensure that he made his mark before unavoidably being eliminated on a course which is not known for its overtaking opportunities!

Gareth is representing Mission Motorsport at the stricter level of our online engagement work, whilst the unwavering support of Nick Trott & Paul Regan at 27racers.com (a side project by TwentySeven Works) ensure that our wider beneficiary and supporter network can engage together in more social racing during the week.

We are incredibly proud of Gareth for securing a second seat for this weekend, watch his post race interview with Diana Binks and James Cameron below. Please support Geordie by watching the streams in the links above on race day.
