Lionel next up for Formula E Online
Mission Motorsport stunt driving instructor & beneficiary Lionel O’Connor has been selected as the next guest driver to take his place in the Formula E Online seat this Saturday 23rd May 2020.
STREAMS WILL BE LIVE BETWEEN 1530 BST AND 1715 BST ON EVENT DAY
As we speak, Lionel is working hard practising on ‘rFactor’, the simulation race program for The ABB Formula E Race At Home Challenge which is fundraising for UNICEF.
As quoted on the ABB Formula E website, “As part of Formula E's fundraising partnership with UNICEF, the all-electric street racing series will enter the virtual world with the ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge - a nine week esports competition featuring all the teams and drivers from the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, as well as a selection of top gamers.”
Lionel said, “There is a big difference between the F1 games I have played before and ‘rFactor’, so this is taking a real amount of time and practice to become familiar with the simulation and car handling characteristics'“.
Lionel is an amputee, having lost his left leg in an explosion in Iraq whilst serving in the British Army. Since 2012, Lionel has gone from being a beneficiary, to becoming Mission Motorsport stunt and car handling instructor for other beneficiaries and MM friends alike.
