Mission Motorsport Awarded £210,000 by the Armed Forces Covenant Trust Fund
Mission Motorsport, The Forces’ Motorsport Charity is thrilled to announce that it has received three separate grants totalling £210,00 from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund, through its Positive Pathways programme.
Part of the Veterans’ Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund, the Positive Pathways programme funds projects that develop and run activities supporting the mental health and wellbeing of ex-Forces.
Three Sisters, Wigan
The first of three £70,000 grants will be used to deliver professional, engaging monthly events for veterans in the North West. Using the draw of sport to access the hard-to-reach, the project will provide a platform for supporting groups to promote peer support, building friendships and community and help veterans make connections with supporting agencies.
Activities planned include; go-karting, passenger rides around the track, car control, 4 x 4 experiences and instructional session.
Woodland Experience
The second grant of £70,000 will be used to deliver over 250 individual opportunities annually for veterans to attend a veteran led, purpose designed 24hr outdoor experience in the North West of England. Delivered by partner Woodland Experiences, the project provides a welcome break for hard-to-reach veterans and their families, creating memories and developing skills.
Recovery SPort
The final grant of £70,000 will be used to develop and fund a series of recovery sport initiatives, purposely designed to engage and inspire members of the Armed Forces Community in need. Activities include:
‘Headline’ events – days at Goodwood, Silverstone, Anglesey and Thruxton
‘Car Control’ low level entry sporting offer to WIS at various MoD sites
‘4x4’ outdoor experiences with the option to progress to LANTRA qualification ‘Driver Training’
Skid pan and limit control experiences and instruction
Ben Williams, Head of Fundraising said, “ The funding awarded by the AFCFT will be instrumental in allowing Mission Motorsport to provide the support our beneficiary audience requires. We’re enormously grateful.”
